Let’s Do It Foundation was the founder and coordinator of the first ever World Cleanup Day. After 2018, the coordination of the project was handed over to Let’s Do It World NGO. Today, Let’s Do It Foundation focuses on engaging communities around the Keep It Clean Plan. It does this by developing educational programs for sustainable development (using ‘learning by doing’ approaches) and carrying out stakeholder consultation and process facilitation for adopting or enforcing the most sustainable resource management systems and implementing innovative technology for the sustainable world.

Our Story

The Let’s Do It movement began in Estonia in 2008, when 50,000 people came together to clean up the entire country in just five hours.

Today, the movement has grown into a network of 180 countries which engages millions of people towards the same goal – a clean and waste-free world.

World Cleanup Day

Our flagship project is World Cleanup Day – one of the biggest civic gatherings of our time, uniting 180 countries across the world to act together for a cleaner planet.

The first World Cleanup Day, on 15 September 2018, engaged 17.6 million people in 157 countries. The following year, on 21 September 2019, World Cleanup Day grew even bigger, uniting 21.2 million people across 180 countries and territories. This was the biggest ever waste cleanup day in human history, with an epic 36-hour green wave of cleanups stretching across the globe – beginning in New Zealand and travelling around the world, before ending in Hawaii.

Digital Cleanup Day

In the digital world, just like in the environment, there is a huge amount of trash. Unnecessary files take up storage space on our smartphones, tablets, laptops, PCs and servers. By deleting these files, apps, photos, and videos, we are not just extending the life of our gadgets and saving a huge amount of CO2, but we also feel more balanced, take better control over our lives and become more efficient and satisfied.

Keep It Clean Plan

Let’s Do It World’s work is based on the Keep It Clean Plan, a visionary document for establishing a clean and sustainable world by working together.

The Keep It Clean Plan, developed by Let’s Do It Foundation, is based on circular economy principles and zero wastepractices. It is a set of guidelines for moving towards a waste-free world.

The Keep It Clean Plan states our overall principles and our vision for the management of resources and waste, together with step-by-step solutions and examples of best practice. It acts as a general support document for all communities wanting to improve their waste situation, and who are willing to develop their own local/national/regional strategy.
